Lumber / waste wood: definition
What is timber, what is waste wood?
Lumber (also construction wood) is wood that is used as a building material for the construction of buildings and other structures. Depending on the shape and degree of processing, a distinction is made between various timber products, which are classified into solid wood, glued laminated timber and wood-based materials. We mainly use solid wood; without further treatment and processing; occasionally plywood.
Waste wood is reused timber. The disposal of construction and demolition wood (waste wood disposal) is regulated in the Waste Wood Ordinance. We only use reclaimed wood for specific areas and objects when we are certain that there are no present hazards from unknown previous treatments.
Cracks, holes, discoloration, rust and traces of tools or insects are typical of timber / reclaimed wood and upcycled products. (Explanation: All deviations that are to be expected if no new material / carpentry / furniture goods are used). Deviations from straight lines, equal angles, larger gaps, etc. are also possible. All measurements are approximate measurements! If a specific dimension is to be binding, it must be marked as such! Deviations may occur due to the type of assembly and the raw material. This is not a defect, but emphasizes the reuse/origin of the wood and is a distinctive, decorative element.
The assessment guidelines of (NEW) MÖBELN expressly do NOT apply to our products; The subject of the contract is the provision of an artistic performance. This also applies to deviations in the wood grain, wood color and also the use of different / different old woods, metal parts and similar constructive elements. Color samples only ever represent approximate values; Raw material-related deviations are possible.
